The Debrief
Baltic Bangers 2026 is over. Six days, three countries and a healthy pile of questionable decisions. Here is the official wrap-up.

What is Baltic Bangers?
Not a race. Not a rally. Just six days of old cars, backroads, and Baltic weirdness.
Baltic Bangers 2026 is a backroads road trip through Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia — a week of strange landscapes, old cars, good people, and questionable decisions. It’s part scenic drive, part rolling escape room, and part beer-fueled camping trip.
You and your fellow travellers will follow a carefully chaotic route (or not) using our hand-crafted Roadbook — filled with waypoints, legends, and side quests. There are daily non-driving challenges, night-time meetups, and enough detours to keep things wonderfully off-track.
If you’re here for speed or trophies, you’re in the wrong place. This trip is all about creativity, curiosity, and character (both your car’s and your own). Although there will be some amazing trophies to collect for those who make the best contributions in the daily challenges.
What to Expect
Think: Top Gear special meets Baltic folklore meets “we probably shouldn’t have turned down that road.”
Over six days, you’ll loop from Klaipėda (Lithuania) through the heart of the Baltics — along forest tracks, coastlines, castle ruins, Cold War bunkers, and places so strange they don’t even exist on Google Maps (yet).
- Chase down Soviet ghost towns and pine-covered lookout towers
- Visit hidden dunes, border crossings, and castle ruins
- Complete weird & wonderful challenges (no driving skill required)
- Sleep in guesthouses or wild camp under the stars
- Reconnect at a pub, firepit, or lakeside shack each night
How Does It Work?
You’ll receive a Roadbook and GPX files before the trip — your guide to each day’s route, waypoints, stories, and challenge. There’s no start flag, no tracking, and no timing. You go at your own pace, stop where you want, and reconnect each evening.
The route is entirely doable in a 2WD — but expect potholes, gravel, dust, and decisions you’ll question later. Bring tools. And snacks.
Who’s This For?
If you’re someone who packs duct tape before sunscreen… who names your car before booking accommodation… who thinks the best stories begin with “we weren’t really sure where we were going” — you’re in exactly the right place.
Baltic Bangers is for the curious, the chaos-friendly, and the creatively underprepared. You don’t need to be a mechanical wizard — having the social skills to persuade someone else to help you fix a snapped exhaust pipe can be just as effective. Sometimes more.
This is not for you if you have a meltdown over a flat tire or need everything to go to plan. Things will go wrong. You might get stuck, break something, or question your life choices at a closed petrol station in the rain. That’s part of the magic.
Anyone can do this — really. But you need to be able to relax and enjoy the ride, even when it’s bumpy, dusty, or slightly confusing. A broken suspension might feel like a disaster in the moment… but with the right mindset, it becomes a legendary story by the next day’s rendezvous.
So: if you can laugh at bad luck, find joy in strange detours, and stay present enough to duct-tape a fix together and keep going — this is your kind of trip. If you can’t… well, there are some lovely cruise ships leaving from Kiel.
What You Need to Know
- No racing. No egos, no speeding. It’s about the journey, not the lap time.
- Respect everything. People, nature, gravel roads, and beer budgets.
- Bring a beater. Preferably named. With character. Possibly duct-taped.
- Prep smart. Spare tire, fluids, jack, duct tape, a sense of humor.
- Stay legal. Your car must be road-legal and insured.
What’s Not Included
Here’s what you’ll need to sort on your own:
- Accommodation (we suggest — you book)
- Food & drinks (there will be beer… just not ours)
- Repairs, tow trucks, tears (Top Gear rules apply)
- Navigation tools (we give you GPX; you choose the app)
Who’s Behind This?
Polar Bears Adventures is not a tour company. We’re a small crew of friends who love bad roads, good stories, and weird maps. Baltic Bangers is our passion project — and we’d rather drive a thousand kilometers of gravel than spend one hour in an airport lounge.
